Miracle in Cell No.7 (2014)


I'll introduce one of my favorite Korean movies called Miracle in Cell No.7 (七番房の奇跡). This is a Korean movie released in 2014. It was a blockbuster hit, winning four awards at the Korean Academy Awards and setting a record as the third most-watched Korean film of all time.

There was a father, Yong, whose intellectual age was six, and his strong six years old daughter, Ye-seung, who dreamed of his daughter's entrance into school with a yellow school bag in the spring. One day Yong is involved in an incident and is arrested. Parents and children were able to meet again for a while with the help of their friends, who were helped by the honest and friendly Yong. But their happy time didn't last long.
In his closing argument at trial, he somehow pleaded guilty to a crime he didn't have committed.

After a couple of years, Ye-seung becomes a lawyer and works hard to prove her father's innocence. And what her father really wanted to protect is revealed over time. 

In this story, you can fully feel the love of parents and children. There is no doubt that you will be attracted to the acting of the girl who plays Ye-seung. I saw it on Netflix, but it isn't currently available, so you have to rent a DVD. It's a wonderful movie and you can't stop crying, so if you are interested, please check it out!!

Crash Landing on You (2019)

I would like to introduce on of m favorite Korean dramas called "Crash Landing on You (愛の不時着)". It's a Korean drama that has been distributed in 190 countries around the world on Netflix and has become a hot topic in Japan due to the corona disaster. The daughter of a Korean conglomerate magnate, Yoon Seri, launched her own brand "Seri's Choice" with great success, and was chosen as the successor to the largest conglomerate in South Korea, the "Queen Group". Cheerful Seri is flying a paraglider to test a new product. However, she suddenly gets caught in a storm and by the time she realizes, she has crash landed in North Korea. It was Ri Jeong-hyeok, a soldier, who found her. What happened to the two, and did Seri return to Korea safely? It's pleasant to see that there is a lot of foreshadowing in this drama and it is all collected in the end. All of Us Are Dead (2022)

I'll introduce one of my favorite Korean dramas called "All of Us Are Dead（今、私達の学校は‥)". This is a Netflix-only zombie drama released on January 28, 2022. It's a very popular drama that  reached No.1 in the U.S. Netflix Top 10 list after only 7 days of release.   This story begins in high school. A high school science teacher develops a zombie virus, and a guinea pig carrying the virus bites a student. She becomes a zombie, and people who don't know about it approach her and are bitten, and zombies increase steadily in the school. After that, zombies are everywhere, not only in schools but also in Korea. I think the charm of the zombie series is that we can feel the friendship, affection, and family love that are born while escaping from zombies.
